The Jack Handler award

was established in 2002 in memory of Jack Handler, former Chair of the Western New England Chapter, activist, contract advisor, teacher, lawyer, to honor a member of the Chapter who has made an outstanding contribution to the work of the union. Miryam Williamson was the first recipient of the award at the Chapter's Annual Meeting Feb. 1, 2004. Contributions to the award fund may be sent to the Western New England Chapter, PO box 398, Hadley MA 01035.

In the spring we hold our annual Mid-Career Conference, for working writers.

In the summer of 1988, the Western New England Chapter (formerly the Western New England Local, or Local 5) was formed.
