Good Writing Must Be Organized! The National Writers Union (NWU) is an organization of some 5,000 members dedicated to improving the working lives and economic status of freelance writers. It is affiliated with the United Auto Workers (UAW). The Western New England Chapter of the National Writers Union was founded in 1989 and is today the preeminent writers' organization in the region, with about 200 members and an active schedule of meetings and events. Members of the Western New England Chapter are journalists, novelists, nonfiction book authors, scriptwriters, copywriters, poets, academics, business and technical writers, and writers in the new electronic media. You see their work in newspapers and magazines published locally and nationally. You hear their commentary on WFCR, the local National Public Radio affiliate. Their books are in bookstores everywhere. They write for businesses, medical institutions, non-profits, academic institutions, and more. If you are serious about writing, you should consider joining the National Writers Union. All the information you need is here.
